Having fun at Pheasant Fest!

Milton was so proud to be attending pheasant fest in Minneapolis with his foster mommy and showing off how beautiful IBR setters are.
Lisa, Milton's foster mom writes:
We took Milton and Rio to Pheasant Fest today. Milton was a BIG hit! Everyone just loved him. They could not get over what a sweet doggie he is.
Rio had a good time at the beginning, but got pooped out about 3/4 of the way through our shift.
Milton kept on going!! Wagging his little tail and buttering up to anyone that would give him a little love.
When getting back home, Milton laid down and relaxed. He's crossing his paws that his forever family is waiting just around the corner...

Milton arrives in Minneapolis

Milton got the fabulous offer to be fostered in Minneapolis---and arrived there this weekend.
Lisa, his foster mom, already sent a first update:

Hi Everyone!!
Just a quick update on our man Milton. WHAT A SWEETHEART HE IS!!!!
He slept last night in the spare bedroom with our other 3 Setter girls, just like he had been doing it all his life. Took him down to the lake this afternoon for his first leash walk. He was GREAT!! Walked with the rest of them like a pro. He is very interested in birds and responds immediately to Mike's whistle, so Mike thinks he might have hunted sometime in a former life. He already seems to love his Setter sisters, and they love him too. Even Gracie, our little (sometimes) pain-in-butt girl was playing with him this afternoon!!
We could not have asked for a better foster boy! Everyone (including his "Grandma") thinks he is soooo beautiful and such a good boy for only being here such a short time!
Thanks to Carola and everyone IBR for allowing us to foster this sweet loving little man!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!
Lisa & Mike
Rio, MaryEllen, Gracie & Foster Milton

Milton is a very handsome, Black & White American Field Bred English Setter. He is approximately 6 years old and was dumped in a local Ohio shelter. He is a super sweet cuddly medium size boy. He is about 50 lbs. and probably needs to put on a few pounds to be at the average weight for a male setter.

Milton has been friendly with all size dogs and people since he has been in our home as
a foster - he's also fine around cats, but NOT rabbit safe!! He knows many commands. He comes when called, will sit, stay, and go potty when asked. He has never had an accident in the house, although he did "mark" twice inside during the initial adjustment period. He is crate trained, but needs some coaxing with a treat to get him into the crate. We are working with him daily on his hesitation in this area. He loves to go for walks on his leash and car rides. Milton is a birdy boy, and enjoys being outside smelling all the
critters along the way. He gets along very well with his 3 setter "sisters" in his foster home.

He loves to be petted and cuddled and to be with his people. He sleeps through the night on his big doggie pillow. He likes to lay on the couch,
but will only do so when asked.

We feel that the ideal home for Milton would be a family with at least 1 or 2 other doggie companions, in a home that is fairly active and will take him with them on family outings.
As with all Setters, he will need to get regular exercise and will require a fenced in yard.

Won't you consider sweet Milton as a new member of your family in 2008? See more pictures of this beautiful boy on Milton's blog.

Milton outdoors!

Milton loves backyard time. He romps around like a little puppy.
Here he is with our little Sashi.
So far Milton enjoys it outside much more when you are going out with him. Once you go inside, many times he wants to follow you.
This might change once he understands that he will never have to stay outside if he doesn't want to.

A big cuddle bug

Milton is settling in nicely. He soaks up attention like a sponge and follows you around like a little shadow.
He enjoys snuggling on the couch---and won't say no if you let him sleep next to you in bed either. He's a quiet sleeper at night.

Milton has just arrived in foster care. This boy sure shows us how thankful he is to be finally coming out of the shelter...
He was first hesitant to come up on the couch, but it didn't take him long to snuggle right in.

Milton is a very happy fella and smiles all the time.

He's learning how to enjoy the finer things in life again....chewing on a rawhide, nibbling on a bully stick---

---getting loads of cuddles...and outside in the yard he's already made the first moves to play a game of wrestling with Cambridge our other foster boy.
